Signs of a Bad Lash Set

All lash technicians and lash sets are not created equal. Quality technique and tools are important. Below are signs to look out for when seeking lash extensions.

  1. Adhesive amount: Too much adhesive weighs your lashes down. Although it seems like more adhesive will lead to greater lash retention, it actually winds up causing your lashes to break. It can also cause a burning sensation in your eyes when you go to clean your lashes in between sets.

  2. Poor Isolation: Isolation ensures proper application. Poor isolation causes more weight to be applied to the lashes and causes clumping which leads to breakage and premature shedding.

  3. Premature Shedding: Premature shedding is typically a result of terrible technique or using an extension that is too heavy or thick for your natural lashes.

  4. Brushing and Cleaning Hurts: This is typically caused by too much glue adhesive or extensions being applied improperly (extensions should NEVER be applied directly to the lash line).

  5. Extensions are all the same length or are super thick: On Instagram, we jokingly referred to this as the 27-piece quick weave effect. However, your extensions should look natural. Thicker isn’t always better and your lashes should NEVER be the same length across the entire lash line.

Lash extensions are enhancements. They should never cause discomfort or be a distraction to your face. Quality is key.
