Microblading
What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique that enhances your eyebrow. It’s done by using tiny blades that add pigment to the brow area. This method is different than regular tattoos because it only deposits color to the top of the skin and will fade in about a year.
The process has been described from mild to no pain at all. Regular maintenance is not required, however, getting a touch-up or color boosts every 6-18 months will help keep the tattoo looking refreshed and brand new for any occasion.
The Procedure
Before any semi-permanent tattooing process, you should always get a consultation to discuss any skin conditions and to make sure it’s for you. You must also complete the eyebrow waiver prior to coming in for your appointment. Your appointment will last about 2 hours, from shaping to finish.
We start the process by first numbing your eyebrow area. Next, your eyebrows will be shaped using a pencil and your facial features. Most customers who fill in their eyebrows either come with them already done or they bring a picture to ensure the shape is consistent with their liking. We allow you to check the shape before beginning.
We then begin the process of microblading. This process lasts about 20 minutes and is relatively painless. Small strokes are created by using tiny needles lined up that look like a blade. Pigment is then deposited just beneath the surface of your skin, leaving you with flawless eyebrows every day.
After your appointment, it’s important that you follow the aftercare guidance and guidelines you have been provided with. Healing guidelines differ depending upon the type of skin you have. It is also important that you do not get your eyebrows wet for at least 10 days after your procedure.
Healing and Touch-Ups
Depending on aftercare, maintenance and skin type, microblading can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks to heal. Use clear triple antibiotic ointment for 24 hours, then switch to Vaseline, Aquaphor or A&D for the remaining 9 days. Apply the ointments with freshly washed hands or a Q-tip. Never touch the procedure area without washing your hands immediately before. Do not scrub, rub or pick at the epithelial crust that forms. Allow it to flake off by itself. If it is removed before it is ready, the pigment underneath it can be pulled out. Do not workout for at least 10 days after your procedure. Minimal sweating and light exercise is ok, but the brow area must be thoroughly cleaned with lukewarm water as soon as you finish or else the salt in sweat could fade the pigment fairly quickly. Touch-ups are not required, however, one highly recommended (and is free for returning customers) 4 to 6 weeks after the initial procedure in order to see more dimension in the eyebrow. After the first touch-up session, regular touch-ups can be scheduled every 6 months to keep your eyebrows in the best shape possible.
